Big changes at club not an excuse, we still aim to compete for title: Maresca

Ahead of their   clash against Bournemouth on Sunday, Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca insists his team are ready to stage a title challenge despite ‘big changes’ at the club.

Filling the void left by the Guardiola, who won 20 trophies with the Sky Blues, is a daunting task for Maresca, whose job has been further complicated by the departures of Rodri, John Stones and Bernardo Silva, with Savinho and Omar Marmoush also on the verge of leaving.

“There are big changes [at the club], but it doesn’t mean that we won’t be ready to compete [for the title]. It’s a context, it’s not an excuse,” said Maresca, who expects to face a tricky test against a ‘very aggressive’ Bournemouth team.
