Ravi Teja’s Irumudi has achieved an important milestone in North America by breaking even within its first two days.
The film is now expected to cross the $1 million mark by the end of the opening weekend, which would make it one of Ravi Teja’s strongest overseas performers.
North America has generally been a weaker market for the actor. His previous highest collection there was only a little over $500K.
With Irumudi, that record has already been comfortably surpassed.
What makes the performance more impressive is the speed at which the film reached break-even. In recent times, very few Ravi Teja films have managed to recover their North America investments.
The strong trend also suggests that the film may enjoy a longer run.
Positive word of mouth is helping Irumudi, while family audiences are reportedly turning up in good numbers.
After Maa Inti Bangaram, which drew family crowds to theatres, Irumudi is also seeing a similar response from that segment.
If the momentum continues through Sunday, Irumudi could end the weekend with a very strong North America total and emerge as a major overseas success for Ravi Teja.
