Stock Market Today: Sensex, Nifty rebound after 4 days of decline

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex gained 91.97 points to 82,345.43 in early trade on July 15, 2025, Tuesday. The NSE Nifty jumped 32.80 points to 25,115.10. The benchmark indices made a comeback after running in losses for four straight sessions. The markets appreciated amid retail inflation declining to over six-year low of 2.1 per cent in June 2025.

With US markets recording a positive trend in overnight trade, it helped the Indian markets recover during the initial trade.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) continued with the selling and offloaded equities worth Rs 1,614.32 crore on 14th July. The exchange data mentioned that Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) purchased stocks worth Rs 1,787.68 crore.

Sensex firms gainers: Mahindra & Mahindra, Bharat Electronics, Tata Motors, Infosys, Sun Pharma, and Bharti Airtel.

Laggards included, HCL Tech, which declined nearly 3 per cent after the IT services firm reported a 9.7 per cent drop in consolidated net profit for the April-June quarter of 2025-26. Other compaines which were trading lower are, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank,Eternal, and UltraTech Cement.

“Market is in a state of drift with no clear indications of a sharp change of course. FIIs who have been net buyers in April, May and June have turned net sellers in July as per the latest data. This has put pressure on large caps. A significant macro trend is the decline of CPI inflation in June to 2.10 per cent. It appears that inflation will undershoot RBI’s projection of 3.7 per cent CPI inflation for FY26. This has raised rate cut hopes,” VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments Limited, said.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng and Japan’s Nikkei 225 traded in Green, while Shanghai’s SSE Composite and South Korea’s Kospi traded lower.

The US markets ended in the positive territory on Monday. Global oil benchmark Brent crude dipped 0.39 per cent to USD 68.94 a barrel.

On July 14, the BSE barometer declined 247.01 points to close at 82,253.46. The Nifty finished lower by 67.55 points to 25,082.30.
