Batwara 1947 Box Office Day 8: Sunny Deol’s Film Falls Below Rs 1 Crore, Slows Down

Batwara 1947 saw a sharp dip in its second Friday collection, earning around Rs 75 lakh on Day 8. Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta’s period drama has now crossed Rs 34 crore net in India, while its worldwide gross stands at nearly Rs 49 crore.

Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta’s period drama Batwara 1947 has entered its second week at the box office, but its performance has started slowing down significantly. After completing seven days, the film witnessed a sharp decline in both shows and daily earnings. On its second Friday, the movie collected less than Rs 1 crore for the first time.

Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Batwara 1947 earned around Rs 75 lakh on its eighth day, according to industry estimates. The collection was approximately 44.4% lower than Thursday, when the film earned Rs 1.35 crore. On its second Friday, the movie reportedly had 3,211 shows across India.

The film had benefited from the initial holiday weekend after its release, but its earnings gradually weakened during the working days. Meanwhile, Awarapan 2, which released alongside Batwara 1947, has maintained a stronger hold at the box office.

Batwara 1947 8-Day Worldwide Collection

After eight days, Batwara 1947 has reportedly collected Rs 34.35 crore net in India. Its domestic gross collection stands at around Rs 40.77 crore. Overseas, the film added approximately Rs 50 lakh on its second Friday, taking its total overseas gross collection to Rs 8.25 crore.

With this, the film’s worldwide gross collection has reached around Rs 49.02 crore after eight days.

Batwara 1947 Story and Star Cast

Batwara 1947 is directed and co-written by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan under Aamir Khan Productions. The film stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh in key roles.

Set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition of India and the division of Punjab, the story centres on Lahore and explores the human struggles and conflicts surrounding Partition. The film is based on Asghar Wajahat’s play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Nai. It also marks Preity Zinta’s return to films after nearly eight years.
