When is the name cut from the voter list? 7A lot of reason
1- On changing the address
When a person moves permanently from one assembly constituency to another and makes a voter ID card on the new address, the name is cut from the list of old addresses. As you have shifted from Lucknow to Jaipur and updated the voter ID there, then your name will be removed from the voter list of Lucknow.
2- When voter dies
If a person dies and his family informs it to the BLO or Election Office, then his name can be removed from the list. Death certificate is necessary for this.
3- On not voting for a long time
If a voter does not vote continuously for many years and no activity is recorded, then his name can be removed as ‘inactive’. The Election Commission examines his entry. If a person is not found in that area, the name is removed. However, this process occurs carefully and after notice.
4- On getting wrong information
If the information given in the entry of a voter is found wrong or fake such as wrong age, wrong address, or fake documents, then the Election Commission can remove the name after investigation. Sometimes due to fault or change in Aadhaar, address or other documents, the name of the voter can be removed from the voter list due to many technical reasons.
5- When NRI is formed
If a voter fills Form 7 to remove the name voluntarily, his name is removed from the voter list. Sometimes the voters themselves also request that his name be removed from the list, such as after the NRI is formed, he voluntarily removes the name from the voter list.
6- Duplicate entry
If the name of the same person is recorded in two places, then an entry can be removed after investigation. Sometimes the same person’s name is recorded twice in the voter list by technical reasons or mistake. In such cases, the remaining entries are removed by keeping the name of the voter valid in a list.
7- If not confirmed during renewal/amendment
Every year or before the election, there is a revision of voter list in your area, if a person does not update all his information by filling Form 6A, 7, 8 etc. or is absent in confirmation of BLO, then his name can be removed from the voter list.
If the name is cut off from the voter list, then how to get the name?
If you feel that your name is withdrawn from the voter list, then you can re -register by filling the form 6 by going to the Election Commission website (https://www.nvsp.in/) or the local election office. Having a name in the voter list is the first step of participation in democracy. Check the voter list from time to time and if the name is disappeared, then adopt the correct process and add it again.
How to find your name in the voter list?
To check whether there is a name in the voter list, go to the National Voters’ Service Portal. Go to Search in Electoral Roll option here. You should choose your name in the voter list by choosing one of the options you appear in front. Personal details on the portal can be discovered with EPIC number recorded on voter ID.
