Renowned European luxury manufacturer, Volvo, has just confirmed that the company will launch two new all electric vehicles in India on October 12th, 2026. These two EVs in question are EX90 electric SUV and then ES90 electric sedan. Both EX90 and ES90 will serve as Volvo’s flagship offerings in their respective bodystyles for the Indian market.
Volvo EX90 Electric SUV
The new EX90 is like the electric version of Volvo XC90 and is dimensionally similar too. EX90 measures 5,037 mm in length, 1,964 mm in width, 1,744 mm in height and has a 2,985 mm long wheelbase. It gets a closed-off grille along with a bulb on the windscreen where radars for Level 3 ADAS are housed (Yes! Level 3).

Thor’s Hammer headlights have gotten a pixel-like makeover and there are vertically element five-pixel fog lights below. What’s special about these headlights are that they are hidden behind the DRLs and these DRLs move to make way for the headlights. Sort of a modern take on pop-up headlights. Aero wheels 20 to 22-inch in size, flush door handles and C-shaped tail lights are notable.
On the inside, the dashboard layout is typical Volvo with minimalism taking over the clutter. Taking center stage is a 14.5-inch portrait-style infotainment screen with Google-powered UI and Google services built-in. This screen also incorporates the climate controls and other vehicular functions. 9-inch driver’s TFT cluster, 13.2-inch HUD screen, 7S or 6S layout, 384L boot with all rows up and a 45L frunk are notable.

Some market also get a 4S version with a lounge like interior packing a refrigerator, deployable tray tables and more. Powering the Volvo EX90 is a 92 kWh battery with single RWD motor (333 bhp, 480 Nm) with 565 km range and then a 106 kWh battery with dual motor AWD config (up to 680 bhp, 870 Nm) and range up to 608 km. With 106 kWh Dual Motor Performance variants, 0-100 km/h sprint can come up in 4 seconds.
Volvo ES90 Electric Sedan
The Volvo ES90 is an electric version of the S90 sedan, which was discontinued in India in 2025. It also features similar digital fascia as EX90 including the Thor’s Hammer pixel headlight signature. Unlike EX90, these headlights do not move or pop-out. C;osed-off grille, vertical fog lights, bulb for radars on the windshield, up to 22-inch alloy wheels, C-shaped rear tail lights, vertical brake lights and 0.25 Cd air drag are notable attributes of ES90.

Inside, Volvo ES90 gets the same dashboard layout as EX90 with similar equipment and features, but slightly differs in centre console area where only ES90 gets two extra physical buttons and an enclosed storage space. Volvo ES90 is a 5-seater only and it gets a 424L boot and a slightly smaller 27L frunk.
Powering the Volvo ES90 are the same set of battery and motor configs as EX90 as both are underpinned by the same SPA2 800V architecture. Powertrain and performance metrics are almost, if not, identical to EX90. However, range is slightly more with ES90 as it is a lighter and smaller vehicle with better aid drag coefficient. It is 664 km for 92 kWh variant and a whopping 696 km for 106 kWh battery variant.

There are a lot of features and creature comforts common between both Volvo EX90 and ES90. These include quad-zone climate control, digital key, 5G connection, OTA updates, Bose sound system, panoramic glass roof, 360 cameras, powered seats, auto park, Level 3 ADAS, wireless charging pad, V2L and many more.
