Very good news for railway employees, government announced bonus
The government has given a big gift for railway employees. On the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government has given the green signal to the productivity linked bonus (PLB) of Rs 1,865.68 crore. This decision has been taken in the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. The amount of this bonus will be equal to 78 days’ salary, which will get more than 11 lakh railway employees across the country. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that this time the bonus will be given to the employees on the basis of their hard work and productivity. This will provide cash benefits to the employees, which will strengthen their economic condition during festivals.
Who will get how much bonus?
According to the government’s statement, this bonus is about 11 lakhs Railway staff Will get This bonus will be available to all the railway employees who are working in various positions. These include Track Maintener, Loco Pilot, Train Manager (Guard), Station Master, Supervisor, Technician, Technician Helper, Pointsman, Ministerial Staff and other Group C and D employees. This year, employees will get a bonus equal to a maximum of 78 days salary, the upper limit of which has been fixed at ₹ 17,951 per employee. This bonus has been approved at a time when the festive season is about to begin in the country and retail traders are also expected to sell good sales due to recent GST rate cuts on many items. In such a situation, this bonus will give financial strength to the railway employees.
Railway union demands to increase bonus
Although this bonus is good news for the employees, the unions of railway employees are still discussing with the government about some demands. Major unions such as Indian Railway Employees Federation (IREF) and All India Railway Employees Union (AirF) have demanded to increase bonus and issue gazette notifications for setting up the eighth pay commission.
IREF National General Secretary Sarvajit Singh said that at present the minimum salary of the Bonus Sixth Pay Commission is being given on the basis of ₹ 7,000, while according to the Seventh Pay Commission, the minimum salary of employees is ₹ 18,000. He called it “extremely unjust”. Similarly, Airf is also demanding to increase the monthly limit of ₹ 7,000 in the calculation of bonus and increase it according to the current salary structure.
Relief was also found last time too
Earlier, on 3 October last year, the Union Cabinet approved the payment of bonuses related to productivity to more than 11.72 lakh railway employees. This time too, the government has announced bonus payment on time as per its promise, which has increased enthusiasm among the employees. This bonus is not only financial help for railway employees, but is also considered to be like recognizing their work and dedication.
