Ladakh Violence: There have been fierce protests demanding state status to Union Territory Ladakh. There has been a clash between the protesters and the police. The mob burnt the BJP office. The police have lathi -charged.

Ladakh statehood protests: The movement demanding full state status to Ladakh took a fierce form on Wednesday. There was a clash between fierce protesters and police in Leh city of Ladakh. The protesters threw stones at the police officers and burnt the police car. BJP’s office has also been burnt.

Police personnel lathi -charged protesters

On Wednesday, hundreds of protesters gathered on the road of Leh and demanded state status and constitutional security. Furious protesters attacked the BJP office at Leh. Police personnel also used force after stoning and arson by protesters. Police fired tear gas shells and lathi -charged on the crowd.

This is the first time in recent times that such violent clashes have been seen in Ladakh. Violence took place at a time when people seeking state status are going to be with the government. The Center has called a meeting with the representatives of Ladakh on 6 October to resume the demands of the people of Ladakh.

Sonam Wangchukkukkukkukkuk

For the last two weeks, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike demanding state status to Ladakh and the inclusion of this region in the sixth schedule of the Constitution. In the last three years, unrest has increased against the government being directly made by the central government in Ladakh. People here are demanding state status and constitutional security measures to protect their land, culture and resources.

Ladakh was first part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir

Ladakh, who was first part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, was made a separate union territory. At that time, many people of Ladakh, including Sonam Wangchuk, welcomed the move. Within a year, concerns started increasing among the people of Ladakh that there is political emptiness in the administration of Lieutenant Governor. This dissatisfaction has given rise to mass protests and hunger strikes.
