The untitled T-Series production, backed by Bhushan Kumar, was announced last month as an “intense, violent and musical love story”, the kind of high-pitch romantic drama Zaveri has built a career mounting. Aditya Roy Kapur, fresh off Metro… In Dino and reuniting with producer Bhushan Kumar for the fifth time after Aashiqui 2, Malang and Ludo, plays a role the makers believe is layered and emotionally complex. Sources tell us Borse has now been locked to play the lead opposite him, with the film expected to go on floors later this year ahead of a 2027 release.
For Borse, the casting is a significant coup. The actress has spent the last two years building a formidable South resume, from her Telugu lead debut in Mr. Bachchan opposite Ravi Teja, to the pan-Indian Kingdom with Vijay Deverakonda, to a widely praised turn in Kaantha alongside Dulquer Salmaan. Her Hindi credits so far have been limited to a supporting role in Yaariyan 2 and a brief appearance in Chandu Champion. Headlining a T-Series tentpole with an actor of Kapur’s stature changes that trajectory considerably.
It also fits a pattern Bollywood has leaned into this year, with producers reaching South of the Vindhyas for their leading ladies, banking on faces who’ve already proven their box office pull elsewhere. Borse, with her fluency across languages and a résumé that spans commercial masala and prestige drama alike, was reportedly high on Zaveri’s wishlist once the search for a heroine began.
An official announcement from the makers is expected in the coming weeks. Until then, consider this your first confirmation that Bollywood’s newest musical romance has found its heroine, and she’s arriving with a South superstar’s CV already in hand.
