Vinfast is set to make its debut in the Asian subcontinent with the launch of the VF 6 and VF 7 models. These vehicles are currently being displayed at various malls across India.

The company has announced that bookings for these electric vehicles will commence on 15th July 2025, as per their recent social media update. The first showroom has been established in Chennai.

With a significant investment of USD 2 billion (approximately Rs 17,188 crore), Vinfast is showing strong belief in the future of electric vehicles and the Indian automotive market. A manufacturing facility has been set up in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, marking a significant step forward for the Vietnamese car brand. Sales operations are expected to begin shortly after the launch.

Vinfast’s Strategic Partnerships and Manufacturing Plans

Vinfast has collaborated with myTVS to establish 120 service points throughout India. This partnership aims to enhance customer service and support for Vinfast’s electric vehicles. By manufacturing locally, Vinfast seeks to offer competitive pricing and achieve market dominance. Although specific pricing details remain undisclosed, these models will compete with premium electric crossover SUVs from brands like Tata Motors, Mahindra Auto, Hyundai Motor India, Kia India, JSW MG Motor India, Maruti Suzuki, and others.

The VF 6 model is available in two variants in Vietnam: Eco and Plus. It measures approximately 4.21 meters in length and serves as Vinfast’s entry-level offering. Both variants feature a 59.6kWh battery, providing a range of up to 480km. The Plus variant offers impressive performance with 204PS and 310Nm of torque.

The larger VF 7 model measures 4.54 meters in length and is available in Eco, Plus, and Plus AWD variants in Vietnam. While the Eco variant shares the same battery as the VF 6, the Plus and Plus AWD variants come equipped with a larger 75.6kWh battery, offering a range of up to 496km on a single charge. The dual motor AWD variant delivers performance figures of up to 354PS and 500Nm of torque.

Both models boast Vinfast’s distinctive styling and are well-equipped to compete with rival brands’ offerings. Key features include flush door handles, LED lighting, an ADAS suite, HUD, a large 12.9-inch infotainment screen, powered seats, premium speakers, auto-dimming IRVMs, among others.

The first authorised showroom for Vinfast has been opened on Mount Road in Chennai. This marks a significant milestone for the company as it prepares to enter the Indian market with its electric vehicle lineup.
