The last one month has not been good at all for Shreyas Iyer. At one time, till the end of half the IPL season, Punjab Kings, captained by Iyer, were at the top of the points table without losing any match. But after that the car derailed in such a way that it could not be controlled and the team was eliminated even before the playoffs. The IPL season is over but Iyer is still feeling disappointed. In his first match of T20 Mumbai League, Iyer could score only 5 runs.
Iyer Sobo is captaining Mumbai Falcons in this season of the ongoing T20 Mumbai League at Wankhede Stadium. His team’s first match was on Tuesday, June 2, where ARCS Andheri was in front. Falcons, captained by Iyer, batted first in this match but Andheri captain Shivam Dubey and other bowlers destroyed them. Even captain Iyer himself could not control his team.
After the first wicket fell in the second over itself, Captain Iyer came to the crease but he too could not last long. When Falcons’ score was only 25 runs, Iyer was out and returned to the pavilion. He faced 7 balls but could score only 5 runs. Like the opener, Iyer was also hunted by Shivam Dubey, who did not get a chance to bowl much in the entire IPL season.
The batsmen after this also kept coming and going. Overall, the entire Falcons team could not even play 20 overs and collapsed for only 126 runs in 18.2 overs. The team would not have scored so many runs if experienced wicketkeeper batsman Aditya Tare had not played an inning of 59 runs in 39 balls. Apart from him, no other batsman could score even 15 runs. Shivam and Ajay Mishra took 3-3 wickets for Andheri.
