Hyundai Adds New S AMT Variant In The Aura

Hyundai has added a new S AMT variant to the Aura sub compact sedan. The S variant is positioned below the top spec SX and SX+ variants. The starting price is Rs 8.08 lakh (ex-showroom) which makes the get-entry point of the automatic variant more affordable by Rs 87,000.

The S variant is still a fairly loaded model and gets stuff like electric folding ORVMs, 6 airbags, rear centre armrest, rear AC vents, a 2-din audio system. This also includes steering mounted audio controls and there is a rear defogger as well. From the SX+ variant, it misses out on things like cruise control, projector headlamps, alloy wheels, and an 8-inch infotainment screen.

Mechanically, there are no changes and it comes with a 1.2L NA petrol engine which produces 83 bhp and 114 Nm of torque. It is paired to a 5-speed AMT gearbox which Hyundai likes to call the Auto Shift.

With the addition of the new variant, Hyundai aims to get the Aura automatic to more customers. Automatics have become increasingly popular in most major cities and for long manufacturers have tied automatics with only the top of the line variants. The Aura competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and the Honda Amaze.
