Everyone knows that the Pandavas had won in the war of Mahabharata and the Kauravas had to face defeat. But very few people will know about the story before this war of Mahabharata. Yes, there was also Vidur in the story of Mahabharata, who was very powerful, but despite being so powerful, Vidur did not take part in the war of Mahabharata and what is the reason behind it, we will tell you today. Actually, it is said about Vidur that he was an incarnation of Dharmaraja and if he wanted, he could finish the entire army with his bow in this war at once. So let us now tell you about this story related to Vidur.
Why Vidur did not take part in the war of Mahabharata
Despite being so powerful, Vidur did not become a part of the war of Mahabharata:
Please tell that Vidur was actually the brother of Dhritarashtra and Pandu and Kaka of the Kauravas and Pandavas. If we talk about the birth of Vidur, then the king of Hastinapur, Shantanu and his wife Satyavati, had two sons, whose names were Chitrangan and bizarre semen. But pity that his father died in the childhood of both sons and then both sons were raised by Bhishma. The thing to note here is that Bhishma was born from Ganga, the first wife of Shantanu. After this, Shantanu got married to Satyavati’s beauty, but before marriage, Satyavati’s father had placed a condition that the son born to Satyavati after Shantanu would take the position of the king, not his first wife Ganga, the son of Ganga, the son of Ganga.
However, Shantanu accepted this condition and married Satyavati and Bhishma did not marry his father’s word throughout his life and raised his father’s children with great love. Then when Chitrangan grew up, Bhishma handed over the position of the king to him, but pity Chitrangan died during the war with Gandharvo some time later. However, after this, bizarre semen had also reached young age, so Bhishma thought of marrying him. Please tell that at the same time Kashiraj’s three daughters Amba, Ambika and Ambalika were going to be themselves, so Bhishma went there and defeated all the kings and brought the three daughters of Kashiraj to Hastinapur.
However, when the elder girl Amba told Bhishma that she loves King Shala, Bhishma sent her to the king, but the remaining two girls were married with bizarre semen. But the matter of sorrow here is that bizarre semen got tuberculosis and due to this he died. Yes, by then no children of bizarre semen were born, so Shantanu’s second wife Satyavati told Bhishma that he should produce a son from the wives of bizarre, but Bhishma refused to break his father’s word. After which Satyavati remembered her son Ved Vyas, who was actually the son of Satyavati and Rishi Parashar.
Significantly, Ved Vyasa, following the orders of his mother, agreed to the son’s origin and asked Ambika and Ambalika to observe the rules fast for one year. Then after a year, Ved Vyas ji told Mata Satyavati that Ambika and Ambalika would have to pass naked in front of them one by one, but both felt very uncomfortable doing so. After which Mother Satyavati explained to her and then both of them agreed to do so.
Please tell that when Ved Vyas went to Ambika, Ambika closed her sharp eyes and then Ved Vyas ji came out of the room and told Mother Satyavati that Ambika would get a very stunning son, but she would be blind, because Ambika had closed her eyes. After this, Ved Vyasa went to the younger queen Ambalika, then Ambalika became very frightened after seeing Ved Vyas. After which Ved Vyas ji told Mother Satyavati that Ambalika’s son would suffer from pandu disease. However, after hearing all this, Mother Satyavati was very sad and then after that Mother Satyavati asked Ambalika to go in front of Ved Vyas ji again.
This time the queen sent her maid in front of sage Ved Vyas instead of herself and she did not panic at all in front of Ved Vyas. After which Ved Vyas ji told Mother Satyavati that the son born from this maid would be knowledgeable of Nitivan and Vedas. It is worth noting that according to Ved Vyas ji’s said, Ambika was born to Dhritarashtra, Ambalika to Pandu and that maid Vidur was born. The thing to note here is that due to the curse of Rishi Mandavya, Vidur was born as a maid son and later he became a minister of Dhritarashtra. Yes, Vidur followed religion and he wanted Dhritarashtra to follow the path of religion. But pity that this did not happen and then Dhritarashtra used to explain to him whenever he used to talk about the harm of the Pandu.
However, Duryodhana used to be jealous of Vidur due to the side of Pandu and even during the conspiracy of the Lakshangriha, Vidur had cautioned Yudhishthhar and also told him to avoid it. Please tell that Vidur ji had a very powerful and miraculous bow, which he himself received from Lord Krishna. In such a situation, if they wanted, they could have ended the war at once with this bow, but they did not do so. Actually, the thing is that once Vidur had advised Duryodhana not to fight, after which Duryodhana started abusing Vidur. After which Vidur ji broke his bow in anger and vowed that he would not fight in war.
Yes, Vidur knew that if he fought in war, he would have to fight on behalf of the Kauravas, that is, he would have to live in favor of unrighteousness and that is why he decided not to fight. Along with this, he also explained to Dhritarashtra that Duryodhana will destroy his clan, so it is prudent to abandon this war, but then Vidur did not listen to anyone and as a result it was that Kaurava lost badly in the war of Mahabharata and died while fighting fighting. So despite being so powerful because of this, Vidur did not take part in the war of Mahabharata and refused to fight the war.
