In a significant move to enhance the pilgrimage experience for devotees, Dinesh Nair, a prominent figure from Gujarat’s Malayalee community, has put forth a comprehensive set of demands for the development of Sabarimala. As a special invitee to the Loka Kerala Sabha and Global Vice Chairman of the World Malayalee Council, Nair emphasized the need for sustainable development that respects the temple’s traditions.
DEMANDS FOR SABARIMALA DEVELOPMENT
Nair’s demands focus on six key areas:
1. Improved Transportation Facilities:
– KSRTC services
– Interstate bus services
– Ropeway system for easier access
2. Pilgrim Facilities & Infrastructure:
– Eco-friendly shelters, dormitories, and rest houses
– Clean toilets, bathing areas, and drinking water
– Digital token systems for darshan booking
– Dedicated elderly/disabled pilgrim support services
3. Health & Safety:
– Permanent multi-specialty medical centre
– Emergency disaster management unit
– Blood donation and first aid volunteer networks
4. Environment & Sustainability:
– Strict solid waste management and plastic ban enforcement
– Green energy initiatives
– Afforestation and riverbank protection
5. Cultural & Spiritual Outreach:
– Sabarimala Pilgrim Information Centre
– Annual International Ayyappa Research & Cultural Conference
– Digital platforms for global community devotees
