Muhammad Yunus Sends Mangoes to PM Modi: Professor Muhammad Yunus, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, has launched ‘common diplomacy’ with India. This initiative has been taken by the Ministry of External Affairs a few weeks after it is said that New Delhi is ready to discuss all issues in a favorable environment with Dhaka.
As a goodwill between the two neighbors, Dhaka has sent a consignment of 1000 kg of mango mango.
Will the bitterness in India-Bangladesh relationship be less than mangoes?
According to Bangladeshi Daily Daily Sun, an official of Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi said that the consignment will reach New Delhi on Monday. The last meeting of Prime Minister Modi and Yunus took place during the BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok in April, which was their first face-to-face meeting after the fall of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government.
Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s support for a democratic, stable, peaceful, progressive and inclusive Bangladesh during that summit. He also underlined that India believes in a public-centric view of relations, and highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the two countries which has made concrete benefits to the people of both countries.
Will the behavior change the anti -India thinking?
Yunus government is also sending mangoes to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha. Haribhanga is a high-quality variety of mangoes coming from Bangladesh.
Mango diplomacy
However, Younus has not taken any new line by sending mangoes. The practice of sending these mangoes has been going on since the time of previous governments. But last year, the relationship between Dhaka and New Delhi has been in the worst phase since former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was ousted from power after mass demonstrations under the leadership of students. The Hasina government has close relations with New Delhi. However, the new acting government of Bangladesh, promoting regional instability, opted to help China and Pakistan.
The sending mangoes in India by the Mohammed Yunus government is being seen from a positive perspective. Between diplomatic disturbance, Bangladesh’s Mango Diplomacy is being seen as Dhaka’s initiative to make relations with India sweet.
