Lawyer Shot Dead In Patna, 4th Shooting Incident In Poll-Bound Bihar In 24 Hours – VIDEO

Unidentified assailants shot dead a lawyer in Patna amid a shooting spree that has left several people dead in Bihar. The deceased has been identified as Jitendra Mahato.

Police said the Mahto had come out to drink tea when the culprits shot him. The cops have recovered three bullets from the spot. Mahto died during treatment.

“Criminals shot a person named Jitendra Mahato. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, where he died. The family said that he used to come here every day to drink tea. Today, he came here to drink tea and was shot while returning…” SP Patna East, Parichay Kumar said.

“Three bullet shells have been recovered from the spot. The identities of the criminals and their motives behind this incident are being investigated. All the CCTV cameras in the vicinity are being examined… The case is being investigated from every angle…” he added.

The cop said that Mahto was a lawyer, but was not practising for the last two years.

The incident is the fourth such incident in the past 24 hours, raising questions on Bihar’s law and order. On Saturday, businessman Putu Khan was shot in the head at point-blank range by unidentified assailants at Mehsaul Chowk. This particular chowk is the busiest market area in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district.

A few hours later, veterinary doctor Surendra Kumar (50) was shot while irrigating his field in Patna district’s Sheikhpura village. Some bike-borne gunmen opened fire at him. He was rushed to AIIMS Patna but died during treatment.

On Friday, a grocery shop owner Vikram Jha was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in the Ramkrishna Nagar area. Police have launched an investigation in all these cases.
