Samrat Choudhary Big Statement: Why did Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary say that I will vacate the CM residence in 24 hours? Why did Bihar politics heat up? Why did a decision of Rabri Devi create an uproar in Bihar politics?
Rabri Devi Bungalow Row: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary lashed out at former CM Rabri Devi on Tuesday. Rabri Devi has refused to vacate the bungalow at 10 Circular Road even after receiving the eviction notice. Taking a dig at this, the CM said that there are some people who are only concerned about saving their house all the time. During the ‘Sahayog’ programme, the Chief Minister said, “I have been a minister many times, and have also held the charge of the Home Department; yet, I have never lived in a house given by the government.”

- CM Samrat Singh said, “I used to live in my 24 square feet private residence. I became the Chief Minister at the behest of the Prime Minister and Nitish Kumar. I had not asked for this post from Nitish Kumar, rather he himself asked me to take over the role of Chief Minister; and today, I am taking Bihar forward in that capacity.”
Know what is the secret of Rabri Devi’s house
- This whole matter started when the Bihar government issued a notice to RJD leader Rabri Devi on May 29. In this, he was asked to vacate the government bungalow located at 10 Circular Road, which has now been allotted to Bihar’s Animal and Fisheries Resources Minister Nand Kishore Ram.
- A day after the Bihar government’s notice, RJD leader and former chief minister Rabri Devi had said that she would not vacate her government residence at 10 Circular Road in Patna. Speaking to reporters, Rabri Devi insisted that she would remain in the residence despite the government’s instructions. Rabri Devi said, “They can call the force to vacate the place, but I will not vacate this place.
This is not a private estate…it is government property
- Samrat Choudhary further said that the Chief Minister’s residence belongs to the public and it cannot be considered as anyone’s personal property or ancestral property.
He said, “After leaving the post of Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar had vacated the bungalow at 1 Anne Marg – this is the rule of the government. As soon as I came to the Chief Minister’s residence, I named it ‘Lok Sevak Awas’. The Chief Minister’s house belongs to the public. This place is not anyone’s personal property or the property of ancestors; it is not a monarchy.
CM said I will pack household items in 24 hours
- The CM said, “The day my party and my leaders decide that my tenure is over, on that very day, within 24 hours, I will pack my belongings and return to my private home; I will never live in a government residence again. I am here to serve the public, not for my personal gains. Just as Nitish Kumar gave good governance, similarly this government led by Samrat Chaudhary will also continue to work tirelessly for the welfare of the people.”
- Addressing a gathering in Sheikhpura, CM Samrat Chaudhary said, “It is not a monarchy that you continue to live in the house allotted to you. The house I live in today is the eleventh residence I have got. I use this place only to run my government office. But some people get deeply attached to such things; the son wants a separate house, the mother wants a separate house, while the public does not care. We are here to serve the people. I assure you that within twenty-four hours of the end of my tenure, Samrat Chaudhary will pack his belongings and return to his private residence. I will never remain in occupation of the government house.”
