It is believed that once the marriage of Lord Shiva’s son Shri Ganesh and Karthikeya went on, Mahadev said that the one who will first return to the universe will be married first. Hearing this, Karthikeya left his vehicle peacock, but Ganeshji cleverly completed the circumambulation of the universe by circling the parents. By the time Karthikeya came around the universe, Shriganesh was married. Seeing this, Karthikeya became angry and resolved not to marry throughout his life. Mata Parvati was saddened by her pledge and she came to this place in Himachal Pradesh. He also said that the husband and wife who appear together in this temple will be disconnected. Since then, husband and wife do not worship together in this temple.
