Parama Ekadashi 2026 Date: Ekadashi fast has special significance in Sanatan Dharma, but when it comes to Param Ekadashi which is also called Parama Ekadashi, then its importance increases manifold. This is not a common Ekadashi, rather it falls in the Krishna Paksha of Adhikamas, which comes approximately once in three years. There is a religious belief that the charity done on this day and remembering Lord Vishnu gives many times more results. Donating food, clothes and Dakshina to especially needy people is considered auspicious. This fast dedicated to Lord Vishnu is directly related to the Mahabharata period and Lord Krishna himself.
When is Param Ekadashi?
According to Drik Panchang, this very fruitful fast will be observed on 11th June in the year 2026. On this day, Ekadashi Tithi will start at 12:57 midnight and will end at 10:36 pm on the same day. After observing the fast, the most auspicious and right time to perform Parana on the next day i.e. 12th June will be between 05:23 AM to 08:10 AM.
What is the importance of Parma Ekadashi?
In Sanatan tradition, Adhik month is considered to be the favorite month of Lord Vishnu. The Ekadashi falling in the Krishna Paksha of this Adhik month is called Parama or Param Ekadashi. It is described in the scriptures as a date that gives special results in all Ekadashis. It is believed that by worshiping, fasting, chanting, donating and doing devotion to Lord Vishnu on this day, a person gets virtue equal to many yagyas. This fast is also considered very fruitful for those who are struggling with financial crisis, mental unrest or other difficulties in life.
Parma Ekadashi is related to the Mahabharata period.
According to mythology, the importance of Parama Ekadashi was told by Lord Krishna himself to Arjun during the Mahabharata period. It is said that when Arjun asked Lord Krishna what is the significance of this special Ekadashi falling in Adhik month and what results are obtained from it, then Shri Krishna explained in detail about its importance. Shri Krishna told Arjun that the fast of Parama Ekadashi, which falls in the Krishna Paksha of Adhik month, destroys all sins and frees man from worldly sufferings. The person who observes this fast with devotion and regularly, attains wealth, fame, happiness and ultimately the abode of Lord Vishnu.
Recognition is also related to the story of King Harishchandra
A famous story of King Harishchandra is also narrated in the context of Parma Ekadashi. According to the story, King Harishchandra, who followed the path of truth and religion, had to face many difficult trials in life. He even lost his kingdom, family and glory. It is said that under the guidance of a sage, King Harishchandra observed the fast of Parama Ekadashi. With the effect of this fast, the difficulties of his life ended and he got back his lost kingdom, family and respect. For this reason, this Ekadashi is considered to remove troubles and fulfill wishes.
