Story of Panchmukhi Anjaneya Temple of Raichur
The glory of Panchmukhi Anjaneya Temple of Raichur district is unique. This temple is built in Ganadhal village of the district, which is ancient. Hanuman ji is present here in Panchmukhi form. His idol is carved on rocks, which is said to be natural. This Panchmukhi idol includes the forms of Hanuman, Narasimha, Garuda, Varaha and Hayagriva. It is believed that in Treta Yuga, Hanuman ji had taken this form to protect Lord Ram and his younger brother Lakshman. Apart from this, it is also believed that Saint Shri Raghavendra Swami had performed rigorous penance here for 12 years. Hanuman ji was very happy with this penance and he appeared to him in Panchmukhi form.
