A surprising incident has come to light from Gwalior. Here on Sunday, a 32 year old woman died after being shot. The accident happened when she was preparing for the ‘Chhathi’ celebration of her newborn son and preparations were being made to open fire there. According to the police, the incident took place in Trupti Nagar, where relatives and guests had gathered for the event.
Investigators said that between 10 and 11 am, Manoj Kushwaha’s younger brother Yogesh Kushwaha was holding a country-made pistol in his hand, celebrating the birth of his nephew. It is alleged that he was repeatedly loading and unloading the gun, when suddenly the bullet was fired.
Mother shot during ceremony
The bullet directly hit the head of the child’s mother, Jhanvi alias Jyoti Kushwaha, who was sitting nearby. She collapsed there and died before any medical help could be provided. Instead of informing the police or taking them to the hospital, Manoj and Yogesh tried to hide the entire incident. Officials said that both of them kept Jyoti’s body in a big deep freezer, so that the body does not spoil and they could perform the last rites quietly at night.
It is reported that neighbors were told that Jyoti died due to illness. But, the matter came to light late on Sunday night when a local resident became suspicious and informed the Thatipur police. A police team reached the house and recovered the body. By then Manoj and Yogesh had fled from there after seeing the police vehicles.
The police have sent the body for postmortem and have also called the forensic team to the house to collect evidence. The investigation team is now searching for the illegal weapon which was used in this incident. Efforts are also being made to find out where this weapon came from.
