Pitambara Mata Temple of Datia
Datia Pitambara Mata Temple is a famous Tantric Shaktipeeth, located in Datia district of Madhya Pradesh. This temple was founded by Swami Ji Maharaj in 1935. Mother Pitambara is considered to be the goddess of erectile and enemy destruction and is also called the goddess of the royalty. It is forbidden to touch the statue of Maa Pitambara in this temple. In such a situation, devotees are able to see the statue of mother Pitambara only through the window.
The history of this temple is very special. At the time of the 1962 Indo-China war, 51 Kundiya Mahayagya was organized here, which was done by former PM Jawaharlal Nehru. It is believed that China announced a ceasefire due to this yajna. Apart from this, secret practices were also performed here in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. Along with Maa Pitambara, the temple also has darshan of Maa Dhumavati and Mahabharata carpet Khandeshwar Mahadev.
Devotees come from far and wide
Devotees of Maa Pitambara worship here with the wish of Rajasatta and expect happiness, prosperity and peace in life with their blessings. On Navratri and other festivals, a crowd of huge devotees throngs the temple. Devotees come from far and wide to visit the Pitambara Mata Temple of Datia to see Mother Pitambara. Even though the devotees do not touch the statue of mother Pitambara, they definitely reach the temple to get a glimpse of them.
There are two types of havan
Devi Bagalamukhi, the presiding deity of Pitambara Peeth Datia, is worshiped as the eighth Mahavidya in Hinduism, which symbolizes the powers of Pillar (paralysis) and prestige (establishment). Devotees believe that their worship leads to victory over enemies, control over speech and overall welfare. People also perform two types of havan in this temple to fulfill their wishes. For happiness and peace, a bitter or chilli havan is performed for peaceful havan and court-court cases. Former PM Jawaharlal Nehru also here 51 Kundiya Mahayagya was held.
