Traffic restrictions on THESE routes in Delhi for Ramlila, Dussehra starting Sept 22; check timings, alternative routes

New Delhi: The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed advisory in view of Ramlila and Dussehra celebrations to be held in the national capital from September 22 to October 3. The celebrations will be held at the grounds in front of the Red Fort.

The Delhi Traffic Police (DTP) said, “The festival of Ramlila & Dussehra Parva will be celebrated at the grounds in front of Red Fort, Delhi, from 22nd September 2025 to 3rd October 2025. During this period, three major Ramlilas (Lav Kush Ramlila, Nav Shri Dharmik Ramlila and Shri Dharmik Ramlila) will be organized along with joy rides and food stalls. A large number of devotees, visitors, and VIPs are expected to attend these events daily.”

It added that anticipating heavy footfall and vehicular movement, special traffic arrangements have been made to ensure smooth traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and public convenience. The traffic police advised all commuters to avoid Netaji Subhash Marg in front of Red Fort and plan their journeys accordingly.

Ramlila, Dussehra 2025: Traffic restrictions, diversions

The DTP said that all types of commercial vehicles and DTC buses will be diverted from Delhi Gate Chowk, Daryaganj and Chatta Rail Chowk between 5 pm and 12 am from September 22 to October 3, instead of moving towards Red Fort.

It added that traffic movement will be restricted on Netaji Subhash Marg (Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail Chowk) and Nishad Raj Marg during the event.

If required, private vehicle diversions will also be enforced from:

  • Chhatta Rail Chowk
  • T-Point Subhash Marg
  • Delhi Gate
  • Shanti Van Chowk
  • GPO Chowk, Lothian Road

Alternative routes

  • Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail: Delhi Gate to Rajghat to Shanti Van to Hanuman Setu to Kelaghat to Chatta Rail
  • Chatta Rail to Delhi Gate: Chatta Rail to Hanuman Setu to Salimgarh Bypass to Rajghat to Delhi Gate

Visitors without parking labels may use:

  • ASI Parking at Madhav Das Park (2A Parking)
  • Tikona Park Parking Space (No.3 Parking)
  • Sunehari Masjid Parking (T-5 Parking)
  • Parade Ground Parking
  • Dangal Maidan Parking
  • Omaxe Mall Parking
  • Church Mission Road Parking

Vehicles with parking labels issued by organizers will be parked at:

  • Nav Dharmik Committee – Near Lahori Gate & Ticket Ghar at Red Fort
  • Nav Shri Dharmik Committee – Near 15 August Park & Opposite Rampart
  • Lav Kush Committee – Inside 4A Parking Area

Exit routes for parked vehicles:

  • Vehicles of Nav Dharmik & Nav Shri Dharmik Committees will exit via Gyan Path.
  • Vehicles of Lav Kush Committee will exit on Netaji Subhash Marg.

  • Jama Masjid

Instructions for commuters

  • Park vehicles only in designated parking areas; avoid roadside parking.
  • No E-Rickshaw, Auto Rickshaw, or Cycle Rickshaw will be permitted beyond Chhatta Rail Chowk and Delhi Gate on Netaji Subhash Marg.
  • Pedestrians are advised to use footpaths and designated crossings.
  • Extra rush is expected at Hanuman Mandir on Tuesdays and Saturdays – plan visits accordingly.
