Video: GST reforms kick in – PM Narendra Modi meets shopkeepers and traders in Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met shopkeepers and traders in Arunachal Pradesh’s capital Itanagar on Monday. The meeting comes on a day when the GST reforms, announced recently by the government, kicked in. The PM had termed the start of the GST reforms and “Bachat Utsav” during his address to the nation on Sunday evening.

PM hands over placards to public in Arunachal

The PM was also seen handing over placards to the shopkeepers who had lined up on both sides of the road to catch a glimpse of the leader. The placards read ‘Garv se Kaho Yeh Swadeshi Hai’ (Say proudly, we are Swadeshi). The shopkeepers expressed happiness at meeting the PM and getting the placards from him personally. They said that they would indeed display the placards outside their shops.

The PM is on a visit to Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura. During his Arunachal stopover, the PM was welcomed by the youth and women of the state. He was greeted with slogans of “Vande Matram” and the Indian flag by the people of the state.

The PM laid the foundation stone for two major hydro power projects in Itanagar, the 240 megawatt Heo and 186 megawatt Tato-1, with a combined investment of 3,700 crore rupees.
