Police has arrested the head of the college department Sameer Kumar Sahu. The Higher Education Department has suspended the Principal of the accused Head of the Department and the college. State Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj has assured strict action.
Student complained against teacher
The student was studying integrated B.Ed at Fakir Mohan College, Balasore. On July 1, he also lodged a complaint in the college’s internal grievance committee. In this, Head of Department Sameer Kumar Sahu was accused of asking and threatening ‘favor’. According to sources, the student was assured that action would be taken in seven days, but nothing happened.

On Saturday, the victim student and many other students started protesting outside the college gate regarding this issue. Students told that during this time the girl suddenly woke up and ran to the principal office. Put petrol on him and set it on fire. A video of this incident has also surfaced, in which the student surrounded by flames is seen leaving the college office and going to the corridor. A student is trying to extinguish the fire by taking off his t -shirt. Many more people are also helping him.

College principal Dilip Ghosh said that the complaint of the student was lodged and the internal committee was about to submit the report. He told that the student came to my office on Saturday and met me. He had said that he is very mental pressure. He had asked to call Sahu to the office. I also called. Sahu continued to deny the allegations and the student was also adamant on her point. I told both of them that if someone turns out to be wrong, the consequences would have to be suffered.
Demonstration intensifies in college, teacher arrested

MP’s charge, inquiry committee biased
Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi has made a big disclosure about this matter. He has told that a few days ago the girl came to me with her friend and complained. When the student told me that she wanted to commit suicide, I explained to her not to do so. You will definitely get justice.
Sarangi said that after this I immediately questioned the principal and SP. The principal had assured that the Internal Investigation Committee will report in five days and we will resolve the issue. But on Saturday, when I got the news of the student setting fire in the college, I immediately went there and met the college inquiry committee.
BJP MP Sarangi said that I saw many shortcomings in the investigation. I realized that the inquiry committee was biased to save HOD Sameer Sahu. Even the student member committee, which is part of the committee, has not been properly included in the investigation process. After this, I spoke to the Education Minister and asked them to take strict steps.
Higher Education Minister said, will take strict action
At the same time, the state’s Higher Education Minister Suryavanshi Suraj said in an exclusive conversation with NDTV that this incident is very sad. Taking strict action, we have suspended the accused HOD and the principal. The teacher has been arrested. The Education Department has ordered an inquiry. The investigation team has also been formed.
The minister said that all institutions have internal complaint committees to investigate cases of such harassment. If there is some disturbance in the internal committee of the college, then we will take action. We will review the entire process. He told that the government will bear the entire cost of treatment of the student and her friend.
