While the Imtiaz Ali film reached No 6 on the global non-English movies chart, the Kargil War aerial thriller Operation Safed Sagar debuted at No 8 on the global non-English shows chart. Main Vaapas Aaunga stars Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari and Vedang Raina. Meanwhile, Operation Safed Sagar has an ensemble cast including Siddharth, Jimmy Shergill, alongside Dia Mirza, Abhay Verma, and Mihir Ahuja.
Main Vaapas Aaunga on Netflix global chart
Imtiaz Ali’s directed film debuted in the non-English movies chart in its opening week, grabbing No. 6 on the global chart with 1.6 million views and 4.3 million hours watched in the first week. The film has a running time of 2 hours and 46 minutes. Its performance makes the Indian title one of the most-watched non-English films on Netflix globally for the week.
Brazilian true crime film Elize: Shadows of a Woman, directed by Felipe Vellas, topped the non-English movies chart with 7.3 million views in its third week. Tamil film Gatta Kusthi 2 claimed the third position with 3.1 million views and 7.8 million viewing hours in the second week.
Main Vaapas Aaunga is a romantic drama about an elderly, dementia-stricken man named Ishar and his grandson, Nirvair. As Ishar nears the end of his life, fractured memories resurface of a pure romance from his youth in Sargodha that was violently torn apart by the 1947 Partition of India.
Operation Safed Sagar’s Top 10 debut
Operation Safed Sagar: The Untold Story of the Kargil War opened at No 8 on Netflix’s global non-English shows chart. The six-episode series received 2.2 million views and 12.3 million hours viewed for the week. The series is based on the events of the Kargil conflict of 1999 and the role played by the Indian Air Force during the air operations of Operation Safed Sagar. The series’ entry into the global Top 10 comes as it continues to create buzz by highlighting the IAF’s contribution to the Kargil War to a wider audience.
Meanwhile, My Daughter’s Father Season 1 leads the non-English shows with 3.7 million views, followed by Wrath Season 1 with 3.5 million. In third place, with 3.3 million views, was Spooky in Love.
Operation Safed Sagar was the code name for the Indian Air Force’s high-altitude aerial campaign launched on May 26, 1999, in support of the Indian Army during the Kargil War to flush out Pakistani forces from strategic peaks along the Line of Control.
