Lord’s Test, Day 3: KL Rahul approaches ton as India lose half-centurion Rishabh Pant at stroke of lunch

New Delhi: Team India lost the wicket of Rishabh Pant at the stroke of lunch as the visitors post 248/4 in the first session on Day 3 of the ongoing 3rd Test against England at Lord’s in London on Saturday, July 12. KL Rahul was eager to get back on strike, and Pant was late to respond. The ball was in the hands of Stokes, who picked it at covers and turned to hit the stumps at the bowler’s end, and Pant was nowhere near the crease.

Rahul and Pant forged a 141-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Both batters played good shots to put the pressure back on the hosts. Pant was more aggressive during his 74-run knock, while Rahul batted calmly and showed great resilience.

Earlier, the Men in Blue got off to a poor start as Jofra Archer removed Yashasvi Jaiswal on 13 runs. He bowled a seam-up delivery on and around the off stump, and the Jaiswal looked to play it through the leg side, but got a leading edge of the bat, and the ball went straight into the hands of Harry Brook at second slip. After his dismissal, Nair and Rahul forged an unbeaten 31-run partnership for the second wicket at tea.
