Maruti says the issue is limited to the display of average power consumption and does not affect the vehicle’s performance or safety
Maruti Suzuki has initiated the first service campaign for its recently launched e Vitara electric SUV. Owners have started receiving letters from Nexa dealerships informing them about a software-related issue affecting the vehicle’s Integrated Display System (IDS).
As per the letter, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has identified that, due to an error in the IDS control program, the displayed average power consumption may appear lower than the actual value. The company has clarified that this issue does not impact the functional performance of the vehicle and is limited to the information shown on the display.
IDS Software To Be Reprogrammed
To address the issue, Maruti has launched a service campaign under which the IDS software will be reprogrammed. The update will be carried out free of cost at authorised Nexa dealerships. Owners have been requested to schedule a workshop appointment, where technicians will install the revised software.
Maruti has also confirmed that the update will not affect the vehicle’s warranty. The communication describes the campaign as a proactive measure aimed at providing a better customer experience.

No Mechanical Or Safety Issue
Based on the contents of the service campaign letter, this is not a mechanical recall. There is no mention of any issue with the battery pack, electric motor, charging system or any safety-related component. Instead, the update appears to be focused entirely on correcting the calculation or display of average power consumption shown on the infotainment or instrument display.
Owners may have been seeing a lower consumption figure than the vehicle was actually recording, potentially giving an inaccurate picture of efficiency. Once the software is updated, the displayed efficiency data should more accurately reflect the vehicle’s actual energy consumption.

Maruti e Vitara Expanding Presence
Launched earlier this year, the e Vitara marks Maruti Suzuki’s entry into the mainstream electric SUV segment. It is offered with 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery pack options. Customer deliveries of the Maruti e Vitara commenced in February 2026.
Since then, the electric SUV has steadily built momentum in the market, recording cumulative retail sales of 9,861 units in its first six months. Monthly sales peaked at 2,254 units in March, before settling in the 1,500-2,000 unit range in the following months. In July 2026, the e Vitara retailed 1,600 units.

As customer deliveries continue across India, software updates such as these are fairly common for all-new vehicles, especially those featuring advanced connected and digital systems. In this case, Maruti has chosen to proactively roll out a service campaign before the issue develops into a larger customer concern. Owners who have received the communication are advised to contact their nearest Nexa dealership and have the software update completed at the earliest.
