In addition to its , VinFast is also planning to enter the in India. The company recently filed design patents for an electric scooter named Viper and a new electric motorcycle. And now, another new electric scooter named ‘Rasad’ has been patented in India.
VinFast Rasad – Key features
Based on the design patent images, VinFast Rasad comes across as a premium, performance-oriented electric maxi-scooter. It has a striking presence with features such as a large touring-style windscreen, polygonal headlamp housing and VinFast’s signature LED DRLs. The scooter has a wide apron and appears to be using large 14-inch alloy wheels.
Other highlights include a wide handlebar and a rectangular digital instrument cluster. The scooter is expected to have a charging outlet and storage space at the front. VinFast Rasad has a sporty stepped seat, with ample cushioning and width for rider and pillion comfort. Side panels have sharp, angular lines, which complement the scooter’s sporty aesthetic.
At the rear, VinFast Rasad has a compact taillamp and standard-type turn indicators. A tyre hugger can also be seen. Presence of street tyres indicate that this electric scooter is meant primarily for urban environments. The wider rear tyre is designed for enhanced grip and traction. VinFast Rasad has telescopic front forks and dual rear shock absorbers. Disc brakes at both ends should allow optimal stopping power.
Performance, battery pack, range
VinFast Rasad is an entirely new scooter and not available in any global market. This could even be VinFast’s new flagship electric scooter or somewhere near in that league. Specifications of the scooter are yet to be revealed. However, some reports mention that VinFast Rasad will be getting a 7.1 kW centrally mounted electric motor. It will have a top speed of 100 km/h. In terms of its design and performance, VinFast Rasad could be comparable to products like Yamaha Aerox and .
India launch plans
As per initial plans, VinFast was looking to introduce its electric two-wheelers in India in 2026. Three models from VinFast’s Vietnam portfolio were planned to be introduced in India. The recently patented is already available in Vietnam. However, the electric motorcycle and Rasad are new products, not available anywhere else.
It is possible that VinFast could introduce its first electric two-wheeler in India by the end of this year. This will be part of the company’s global expansion, targeting multiple Asian markets such as Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. In its home market Vietnam, VinFast recently achieved the 1 million electric scooter production milestone.
India’s electric two-wheeler market already seems highly competitive, but overall penetration only recently reached double digits. There is still significant scope for future growth. With differentiated, competitively priced products, new players have the opportunity to build their success story.
