In the midst of the stirring of Bihar elections, five problems of Tejashwi Yadav’s ‘Fort’ Raghopur assembly constituency have become the biggest question of voters this time. This traditional seat of the Lalu family where holds historical and political significance.
Patna: The stirring of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 has intensified and this time the most discussed is Raghopur assembly constituency, Lalu family stronghold and Tejashwi Yadav’s traditional seat. This area is not only in the headlines for political reasons, but also due to its ground problems. Ganga erosion, lack of education, incomplete dreams of tourism, difficulties of farmers and plight of health services, these are the five major issues that can decide the voting pattern of the public this time. The question is whether Tejashwi Yadav will be able to meet these demands of the people in his own stronghold?
Ganges erosion pain: Ring dam demand
Ganga erosion is the biggest pain of Raghopur assembly. In every rain, the land of Diara area is absorbed in the flood waters. Thousands of families are destroyed, children’s education stops and farming is completely ruined. People have been demanding a ring dam for years, but till now only assurances have been received. In 2025, this issue remains the center of both public anger and hope.
Long wait for degree college
There is not a single degree college in the entire Raghopur area. The youth have to resort to Patna or other districts for studies. Even though this seat has been given two chief ministers and one deputy CM, the situation remains the same in terms of education. The youth clearly say that this time education will be our biggest demand.
History of checher and tourism
The village of Raghopur holds historical significance. The demand for linking it to the Buddha circuit has been rising for a long time. If this step is raised then tourism will increase, will get employment at the local level and the identity of the area will also be built outside Bihar. But till now this dream is limited only on paper.
Banana cultivation and farmers’ difficulties
Raghopur is known for the cultivation of banana. Farmers here want to give a new identity to this crop. They wish that farming should get insurance protection, banana products should get processing units and the correct system of the mandi should be prepared. But this dream of farmers is still incomplete. The 2025 election is going to re -bring the demand of farmers’ insurance and market in political debate.
Lack of health services
The hospital’s hospital and primary health centers are in a very weak condition. In the rainy months, due to roads and water logging, patients find it difficult to reach the city for treatment. Health facility is now a big issue of every family, which will not be easy for any leader to ignore.
2020 result and Tejashwi hat -trick
In the 2020 election, Tejashwi Yadav got 97,404 votes and hoisted the RJD flag on Raghopur for the third time. BJP’s Satish Yadav got 59,230 votes and Rakesh Roshan of LJP got 24,947 votes. This result proves that the fort of the Lalu family is still strong, but the challenges are related to the ground reality.
Political history of Raghopur
This seat, which came into existence since 1951, was earlier dominated by the Congress. Uday Narayan Rai was a period in the 1980–1990s. In 1995, Lalu Yadav won this seat and made it a stronghold of the Lalu-Rabri family. Lalu has won twice, Rabri thrice and Tejashwi from here so far. In 2010, Satish Kumar of JDU defeated Rabri Devi and made a big upset, but later the RJD took the seat again.
Lalu family’s most important seat
The importance of Raghopur Assembly is not just because big faces like Lalu-Rabri and Tejashwi contest elections from here. This seat has been the axis of Bihar politics. From here, Lalu Yadav has reached the chair of Chief Minister, Rabri Devi three times three times and Tejashwi Yadav twice.
2025 challenge
The people of Raghopur are no longer satisfied with promises. Ganga wants a clean and solid roadmap on problems like erosion, college shortage, employment, problems of farmers and health. For Tejashwi Yadav, this election is not just a question of winning the seat, but is the real test to maintain public confidence in his stronghold.
