Ayushmann Khurrana reveals his favourite comedy movies of all time

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana has revealed some of his favourite comedy films, naming popular entertainers such as ‘Housefull’, ‘Welcome’, ‘No Entry’ and ‘Hera Pheri’ while speaking exclusively to IANS.

During the promotions of his recent release ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’, Ayushmann said he enjoys comedy across different eras, including the original ‘Golmaal’ starring Amol Palekar and Rohit Shetty’s popular ‘Golmaal’ franchise.

“I really like ‘Haseena Maan Jaayegi’. Besides that, I also like ‘Housefull’, ‘Welcome’, ‘No Entry’, and ‘Hera Pheri’. I think all these films are like something else. Even ‘Golmaal’, both the old one and the new series,” the ‘Doctor G’ actor told IANS.

The ‘Golmaal’ franchise is now gearing up for its fifth instalment, ‘Golmaal 5’, which features an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu and Sharman Joshi.

The Rohit Shetty directorial went on floors on the filmmaker’s birthday in March this year. Announcing the beginning of production, Shetty recalled the journey of the franchise, which began two decades ago.

“20 years ago, the first Golmaal was released, a film that changed my life. The credit goes to you, my audience. Over the past 20 years, we have entertained you, and yes, sometimes disappointed you, but we have always been honest in our work. So now, once again, my fabulous team and I are set on a journey to entertain you as we start filming G5,” he had written on social media.

Meanwhile, ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ is a remake of Mudassar Aziz’s 2019 film ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’, which starred Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday. The 2019 film itself was a contemporary adaptation of the 1978 film of the same name, featuring Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha and Ranjeeta Kaur.

The latest film follows Prajapati Pandey, played by Ayushmann, a married man who finds himself entangled in a complicated situation involving three women, leading to a series of comic situations.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Renu Ravi Chopra and Krishan Kumar under the banners of T-Series and B R Studios, ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ released in theatres on May 15.
