Sarva pitru amavasya ke upay: The special importance of Pitrupaksha has been told in Hinduism. This is the time when they are performed with reverence and faith by remembering their ancestors. It is believed that by doing this, the ancestors are happy and bless them. The last day of Pitrupaksha is called Sarvapitri Amavasya. This year, Sarvapritri Amavasya is falling on Sunday, 21 September 2025. This day also has special significance because people who do not get an opportunity to perform or shraddh in the entire Pitrupaksha, they can remember and offer all the ancestors in this one day. It is also considered a holy opportunity to bid farewell to fathers.
How to offer on the omnipotent Amavasya?
Omnipotent amavasya There are some special rules for offering and shraddh, which are very important to follow.
Preparation for Tarpan: Add water, black sesame, rice, barley and Ganga water to a copper pot. Keep Kush (a type of grass) and white flowers nearby.
Put in the right direction: While performing Tarpan, face towards the south direction, because it is considered the direction of the ancestors.
Chant the mantra: While offering water, meditate on ‘Om Sarva Pitra Devay Namah’ or the name of your ancestors. Gradually flow water by holding Kush in your fingers.
Pindadan: Make a body of flour, barley or rice and offer it to the ancestors with ghee and honey.
Brahmin banquet: After the tarpan, provide food to a qualified Brahmin. If this is not possible, then provide food to the poor or the needy. Include kheer, puri, and things that are liked by kheer, puri, and fathers in the food.
Crows, cow and dog food: Shraddha food should also be fed to crows, cows and dogs. There is religious belief that the ancestors take food in these forms.
What not to do on the day of Sarvapritri Amavasya?
- Do not use iron utensils in Shraddha Karma.
- Do not consume non -vegetarian, alcohol and tamasic food.
- Do not insult anyone and worship with a calm mind.
- It is mandatory to use black sesame while offering, but only when you are offering male fathers.
This day of Sarvapritri Amavasya is a golden opportunity to express its respect and gratitude to the fathers. On this day, there is happiness, peace and prosperity in your life with the tarpan and shraddha done with reverence and faith.
Importance of Sarvapitri Amavasya?
According to astrology, the ancestors come to the earth during Pitra Paksha and expect Tarpan and Shraddha from their family members. If for some reason you have not been able to do Shraddha of your ancestors on their date, then all the faults are removed by performing their Shraddha on the day of all the Amavasya. On this day, Tarpan, Pindadan and Brahmin banquet gives salvation to the ancestors.
