Why will pink ball suddenly be used instead of red ball in test match? (PC-PTI)
In the meeting chaired by ICC President Jay Shah, it has been decided that if there is less light during the Test match and there is a need to switch on the flood lights, then the pink ball can be used instead of the red ball. A meeting of chairmen of several boards was held in Ahmedabad in which this decision was agreed upon. However, this will be used as a trial for the time being. If this does not cause any problem to the players, then it can be made a rule in future.
ICC’s big decision regarding test match
According to the latest release of ICC, if both the teams agree then pink ball can be used during the test match. This ball can be used only due to bad lighting. Pink ball looks better in flood lights, however this ball helps the bowlers a lot. This can also cause loss to the batting team. According to ICC rules, if 90 overs are to be bowled in a day and by the end of 75 overs there is no proper lighting then flood lights will be lit and pink ball will be used for the next 15 overs. Due to this, there will be no reduction in overs and the game will be of full 90 overs.
Head coach will be able to come on the field in test match
ICC has allowed umpires to come on the field in Test matches like in T20. When there is a break during the test match, the head coach will be able to come on the field. Not only this, if umpires suspect illegal bowling action, they will be able to use Hawk-Eye data. All these rules are currently on trial basis, but they can bring an interesting twist to Test cricket.
Schedule of Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 changed
