Viral Story: For what reasons did the software developer reject the job offer of Rs 72 lakh per year? According to the viral post, which policies of the company did the candidate not find employee-friendly? Why did the candidate not consider the offer right for him despite 72 LPA package?
Ragini Pandey Viral Post: A software developer has rejected a shocking job offer of Rs 72 lakh per annum. Since then, a huge debate has erupted on what today’s professionals really want in a job. This incident shows how sometimes work culture, employee benefits and work flexibility can outweigh even an attractive salary package.
This story came to light when software developer Ragini Pandey shared a screenshot on X. It was revealed that despite passing all the rounds of the recruitment process, his friend rejected a handsome offer of Rs 72 lakh. In the screenshot, a recruiter named Manish is asking the candidate to accept the offer so that the company can complete the remaining formalities. However, after carefully looking at the terms and conditions attached to the job, the developer decided to pass on this opportunity.
While explaining his decision, the candidate mentioned several major shortcomings. These included no fixed leave policy, less growth compared to the current salary and no help in shifting to another city. “The contract is not employee-friendly, so I have to give up this opportunity,” she wrote.

The developer emphasized that while the figure of Rs 72 lakh sounds great, the overall package was not matching his professional and personal needs. “Considering the cost of living, no relocation bonus, no leave policy and only a 25% hike, this offer is not right for me,” she said.
He also said that if he had been at the beginning of his career, he probably would have accepted it. She added, “But at this juncture, I think the contract is heavily tilted in favor of the company, rather than being equitable for both parties.”
This viral post has now become a topic of immense discussion online. Many professionals agree that salary alone is no longer what makes a job attractive. Employees are now looking closely at things like workplace flexibility, leave policy, relocation assistance, work-life balance and company culture before taking any career decision.
