India’s July 2026 car sales surged 37.55%, with Maruti Suzuki dominating the top 10 rankings with six models, led by Dzire, Wagon R and Ertiga.
Maruti Dzire – 23,791 units
The Maruti Dzire emerged as India’s bestselling passenger vehicle in July 2026, with 23,791 units sold. Sales increased 13.86% year-on-year from 20,895 units in July 2025. The Dzire was also the only sedan to make it into the top 10 and accounted for nearly 11.84% of combined sales among the leading models.
Maruti Wagon R – 23,338 units
The Maruti Wagon R secured second place after recording sales of 23,338 units. Its sales jumped 58.65% compared with 14,710 units a year earlier. The hatchback added 8,628 units over its July 2025 performance. The Wagon R is also available in a flex-fuel version compatible with E85 fuel, making it different from the other models on the list.
Maruti Ertiga – 21,606 units
The Maruti Ertiga ranked third with 21,606 units sold in July. It recorded 30.13% year-on-year growth over the 16,604 units sold in July 2025. The Ertiga was the only MPV among the top 10 bestselling passenger vehicles, placing it among the three highest-selling cars in the country for the month.
Maruti Swift – 21,538 units
The Maruti Swift took fourth position with 21,538 units sold. Sales increased by 51.78% year-on-year from 14,190 units in July 2025. The popular hatchback was the second Maruti model in the top 10 and helped strengthen the company’s dominance in the July sales rankings.
Tata Punch, Punch EV – 21,313 units
The Tata Punch and Punch EV together recorded 21,313 units, placing them fifth on the list. Their combined sales surged 97.62% year-on-year, making the Punch range the fastest-growing model among the top 10. Sales almost doubled compared with July 2025. The Punch range has also recently crossed the 8 lakh sales milestone.
Maruti Fronx – 19,473 units
The Maruti Fronx secured sixth place with 19,473 units sold in July 2026. Sales grew 51.28% compared with the same month last year. The Fronx was also Maruti Suzuki’s highest-selling model sold through its premium Nexa dealership network, highlighting its strong demand in the compact SUV segment.
Maruti Baleno – 18,241 units
The Maruti Baleno finished seventh with 18,241 units sold. Its sales increased 45.89% year-on-year from 12,503 units in July 2025. The Baleno completed Maruti Suzuki’s six-model presence in the top 10 and was also the third hatchback on the list. It is retailed through Maruti’s Nexa outlets.
Hyundai Creta, Creta Electric – 18,088 units
The Hyundai Creta and Creta Electric jointly recorded 18,088 units, taking eighth position. Sales rose 7.04% year-on-year, the lowest growth rate among the top 10. Hyundai has also introduced an assured buyback programme for the Creta Electric, along with a Battery-as-a-Service option aimed at reducing the upfront purchase cost.
Tata Nexon, Nexon EV – 17,471 units
The Tata Nexon and Nexon EV finished ninth with combined sales of 17,471 units. Their sales increased 36.23% year-on-year from 12,825 units. After the Fronx, the Nexon was the only other compact SUV to feature among the top 10 bestselling passenger vehicles in July.
Mahindra Scorpio N, Scorpio Classic – 16,009 units
