Smriti Mandhana smacks quickest ODI fifty by an Indian batter in women’s cricket

New Delhi: Smriti Mandhana scripted history on Saturday after she registered the fastest-ever fifty by an Indian batter in the history of women’s ODI cricket. The southpaw smashed her half-century in just 23 balls during the chase in the third and final ODI match against Australia women at the Arun Jaitley stadium in New Delhi.

Mandhana surpassed her fellow teammate Richa Ghosh who held the record for the quickest fifty off just 26 balls. The blazing half-century came in no time as India were off to a whisker in the tough chase against the Aussie women. Chasing a mammoth score of 413, India women’s team will have to do wonders to win the encounter and register their first ODI series win against Australia.

Mandhana has been in a terrific form in the current ODI series as she smashed a fifty in the first ODI and followed it up with a century in the second match.
