This time there has been news of relief for consumers just before Diwali. The central government has decided to implement new GST rates from 22 September 2025. This change will directly affect the items related to the festival. Fireworks prices
There has been no change in the category of firecrackers. As before, only 18% GST will be applicable on these. This includes 9% central GST and 9% state GST. The same tax will also be applicable to rain rockets, fog signals and other pairaotechnic products. In such a situation, consumers will not get any relief in the prices of this Diwali firecrackers.
Candles also become cheap
The rate of GST on candles has also been reduced from 12% to 5%. This will directly affect the candles used in Diwali worship and home decoration. For example, the first 56 rupees GST had to be paid on the candles of 500 rupees, while it will be reduced to only 24 rupees after the new rate. That is, the consumer will save Rs 32.

This step of the government will reduce the cost of decorating the house on Diwali than before. Although the prices of firecrackers have not decreased, but due to reduced tax on lights and candles, the budget of the festival will be lighter.
