Sarva Pitra Amavasya 2025 is the last and holiest day of Pitru Paksha. On this day, the ancestors are given farewell to Tarpan, Pindadan and Shraddha. Brahmins are considered necessary to feed, donate and feed animals.
Pitru paksha 2025 last day: In the Hindu calendar, the last day of Pitra Paksha, the all -round Amavasya, is considered the most sacred opportunity to bid farewell to the ancestors. After performing and shraddh for the entire fortnight, all the ancestors are collectively remembered and immersed on this day. It is also called Pitra Visargani Amavasya. The omnipotent Amavasya begins with a bath before sunrise. Take a bath in the Ganges or a holy river and wear clean clothes. Then, take a pledge: “Today on the all -round Amavasya, I offer and immerse all my ancestors.” This day is considered to be the best time to get his blessings.
Pindadan and tarpan method
On this day, sesame, water, flowers and rice are used for tarpan. Sitting on the seat of Kusha, offer water by speaking the name and gotra of the ancestors thrice. It is considered mandatory to offer bodies made of ripe rice, sesame and ghee. This satisfies the soul of the ancestors and attains salvation.
Importance of Brahmin food and charity
This ritual of bid farewell to the fathers is considered to be complete on giving food to the Brahmin. Kheer, puri, vegetables and seasonal fruits are definitely offered. Along with giving Dakshina to the Brahmin, eating food to cows, dogs, crows and needy is also an essential tradition.

Special rituals for farewell of fathers
At the end of the puja, light a lamp of ghee and pray to the ancestors, “O father, please get satisfied and return to your world and bless us.” After this, immerse it thrice by adding sesame seeds to the water. This is a moment of formal farewell of fathers.
