The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the ‘Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana’. This 6-year scheme, starting from 2025-26, has a budget of ₹24,000 crore.
Initially, the project will be implemented in 100 agricultural districts struggling with low productivity, poor crop rotation, and limited access to credit. Its main objective is to promote crop diversification, water conservation, and soil health.
The scheme will be executed in a coordinated manner with 36 existing central and state programs across 11 ministries. It will provide farmers with subsidised or free advanced seeds, fertilisers, and modern farming equipment to boost their production. Special priority will be given to women and young farmers, with the full implementation planned for all selected districts by October 2025.
