New Delhi: In a shocking twist in the Radhika Yadav murder case, the Gurugram Police have revealed that the motive behind the tennis player’s killing was more serious and personal than initially believed. Investigators say the murder stemmed from a long-standing dispute between 25-year-old Radhika and her father, Deepak Yadav, over her decision to run a tennis academy.
According to police, Deepak Yadav, 49, was unhappy with his daughter managing the academy and was reportedly embarrassed by relatives who mocked him for being financially dependent on her income. The tensions between the two had been simmering for some time.
Accused fire five rounds at Radhika
The tragic incident occurred around 10.30am on Thursday inside the kitchen of their residence in Sushant Lok Phase-2, Sector 57, Gurugram. During a heated argument, Deepak Yadav pulled out his licensed firearm and fired five rounds at Radhika. Three bullets struck her.
Radhika collapsed on the spot, and family members rushed her to a private hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.
Accused admitted to crime: Police
Gurugram Police arrested Deepak Yadav shortly after the incident. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep confirmed to IANS that the accused admitted to the crime during interrogation. “He was upset over her insistence on running the tennis academy despite his opposition,” the ASI said.
The licensed weapon used in the crime has been seized and sent for ballistic and forensic examination, officials added.
