The BJP has received a major setback in the by -election of Ward No. 7 in Saver, the assembly constituency of Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silavat. In this election, BJP candidate Mangilal’s bail was forfeited, while Hasina B of Congress won by a huge margin of 796 votes.
There were a total of 1300 voters in the ward, out of which 1044 voters exercised their franchise. While the Congress candidate got 913 votes, the BJP candidate could get only 117 votes. 14 voters chose NOTA in this ward.
Public displeasure and defeat to policies: Congress
Former Congress candidate Reena Baurasi Setia described the BJP’s crushing defeat as the resentment of the people and the result of the anti -farmer policies of the state government. He said that the BJP’s problems were ignored by the BJP, as a result of which he had to suffer in the by -elections. At the same time, by -election was also held in ward number 15 of Gautampura Nagar Panchayat, in which 617 voters took part. Here BJP candidate Shankar contractor defeated Ramchandra Rathore of Congress by 250 votes. BJP got 429 votes and Congress got 179 votes.
Minister’s defeat in the field of Silavat
While the BJP’s victory in Gautampura seat brought some relief to the party, the crushing defeat in the evening has raised questions. The special thing is that Vishal Patel, who has contested on a Congress ticket from Gautampura assembly constituency, has now joined BJP. The BJP also benefited from this change. At the same time, despite promoting Minister Tulsi Silavat, the BJP suffered defeat in Ward 7 of Saver in this by -election.
Gautampura ahead in voting percentage
According to the district administration, 75.32% polling was recorded in ward number 7 of Saver and 81.39% in ward number 15 of Gautampura. A total of 1044 votes were cast till 9 am in Saver, 445 till 11 am, 774 till 1 pm, 935 till 3 pm and 1044 votes till 5 pm. These included 538 male and 506 women. In Gautampura, 158 votes were cast till 9 am, 517 till 1 pm, 582 till 3 pm and 617 votes till 5 pm.
