Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan has entered the coveted Rs 300 crore club while maintaining a strong run in its second week. Despite the usual weekday slowdown, the political action drama continues to win over audiences across Tamil Nadu and overseas. With its latest milestone, Jana Nayagan has comfortably surpassed the lifetime worldwide gross of Vijay and Atlee’s Theri, while also pushing Thuppakki out of Vijay’s top 10 highest-grossing films worldwide. It has additionally overtaken Bigil to become the fourth highest-grossing film of Vijay’s career. Among all the regions, his home state of Tamil Nadu has contributed the largest share of the film’s box office collections.
Jana Nayagan Day 12 box office collection: CM Vijay Film Now Part Of Rs 300 Crore Club
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, earned an estimated Rs 3.85 crore net in India on Day 12 across 3,943 shows. This takes the film’s total India net collection to Rs 179.45 crore, while its India gross has reached Rs 209.35 crore. The film witnessed a 64 per cent drop from Sunday’s Rs 10.70 crore net collection, which is considered a routine weekday decline following the weekend. Overseas, the Vijay starrer added another Rs 1 crore, taking its international gross to Rs 92 crore. With this, the film’s worldwide gross collection now stands at an impressive Rs 301.35 crore.
On Monday, Jana Nayagan recorded an overall occupancy of 28.24 per cent. Evening shows registered the highest occupancy at 37.69 per cent, followed by afternoon shows at 29.15 per cent. Night shows recorded 26.46 per cent occupancy, while morning shows stood at 18.77 per cent.
The Tamil version continued to dominate, collecting Rs 3.60 crore from 2,333 shows. The Hindi dubbed version earned Rs 20 lakh across 1,492 shows, while the Telugu version collected Rs 5 lakh from 118 shows.
H. Vinoth confirms releasing six deleted scenes
During the film’s event in Chennai, director revealed that Jana Nayagan originally had additional footage before its final cut, which runs for just over three hours. The filmmaker confirmed that six deleted scenes featuring Vijay are currently being edited for release. Vinoth said, the unseen footage includes two comedy scenes, two action sequences and two emotional moments that were removed from the theatrical version to keep the runtime in check.
Jana Nayagan stars Vijay as Thalapathy Vetri Kondan alongside Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani and Sunil. The film features music composed by Anirudh Ravichander and marks Vijay’s final film before his full-time political career.
