Navratri 2025: Ten Mahavidyas are not only the forms of ladies but are symbols of different dimensions of life. If someone destroys power, then someone creates, some erase fear and some make the speech sweet. Devotees can cross worldly struggles with their practice. This is the reason that Mahavidyas have the highest position in the Shakta tradition.
Origin of Mahavidyas
According to the Puranas, when Mother Sati wanted to stop Lord Shiva, she expressed ten powers from her body. The same ten powers were later known as Mahavidyas. According to another legend, Asura Durgma took control of the Vedas, then the goddess destroyed her with her ten Mahavidyas and established a balance in the universe.

The practice of Mahavidyas is not limited to physical success just. This leads the seeker to enlightenment, salvation and deep mysteries of life. It has been said in Tantric texts that Mahavidyas should not be practiced without guidance because their powers are very strong.

Tripura Sundari (Shodashi)-Goddess of Saundry and Perfection. They are considered to be the creative power of the universe. Sadhana provides fulfillment of desires and beauty.
Bhuvaneshwari- the presiding of the universe. The power of the whole world lies in them. Worship gives prestige and respect.
Tripura Bhairavi- Furious but welfare form. She gives self -confidence and frees the seeker from fear and negativity.
Chinnamasta- A symbol of self-sacrifice and destruction of ego. They open the path of enlightenment and frees the seeker from greed.
Dhumavati- is known in widow form. They give patience and intense knowledge by accepting the difficulties and deprivations of life.
Bagalamukhi- Goddess who collapses enemies. She controls speech and gives victory in controversies.
Matangi- Goddess of Vani and Art. She progresses in music, literature and intellect.
Kamala- Lakshmi Swaroop. Money, good luck and happiness and prosperity provide.
