Jagran Correspondent, New Delhi: Special Judge Anu Grover Baliga of the fast-track court, which was constituted to expedite the hearing of NEET paper leak cases and punish the culprits as soon as possible, was transferred within 10 days.
Now Ajay Gupta will take charge
Judge Anu Grover Baliga is among the 137 judicial officers released by the Delhi High Court on Saturday. Special Judge Anu Grover Baliga took charge on July 25 and was transferred within a week. Now, Special Judge Ajay Gupta, who previously heard the NEET and other paper leak cases, will take charge of this fast-track court.
Meanwhile, according to the latest order, Judge Anu Grover Baliga has been transferred to the special court that hears terror cases under the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Act. Judge Anu Grover will hear cases under the NIA, as well as the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the NDPS. Judges Vikas Dhull, Prashant Sharma, Pulastya Pramachala, Kiran Bansal, and Amit Bansal are also hearing terror cases.
Fast-track court was set up on the instructions of PM Modi
On the morning of July 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the establishment of a fast-track court to hear the NEET paper cases. Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay constituted the country’s first fast-track court that evening, appointing Judge Anu Grover Baliga as its judge.
Judge Anu Grover, who assumed office on July 25, held the first hearing in the case on July 27. However, the hearing was adjourned on the very first day due to the absence of the CBI’s counsel.
Court will consider taking cognizance of the charge sheet today
Subsequently, the CBI filed a charge sheet against 13 accused in the case. Judge Anu Grover scheduled the matter for August 3rd to take cognizance of the charge sheet and consider bail for two of the accused. On Monday, Special Judge Ajay Gupta will consider the issue of taking cognizance of the charge sheet.
The CBI filed an FIR after the May 3 exam paper was leaked, and on May 12, the National Testing Agency (NTA) canceled the May 3 exam amid allegations of a paper leak. The exam was later rescheduled for June 21.
