There is a rise in the prices of crude oil in the international market. If we look at the data, Brent crude oil of Gulf countries is trading at $ 93.15 per barrel with an increase of 2.23 percent. Whereas the price of American crude has seen an increase of 2.67 percent and the price has come down to $ 89.69 per barrel. According to Jefferies report, for Indian petroleum companies to achieve no profit and no loss, it is necessary for crude oil to reach $ 85 per barrel. Which is looking very difficult to come by in the next few weeks. In such a situation, to compensate for their losses, companies will need to increase the price by Rs 8 more per litre.

The prices of petrol and diesel in Delhi remain at Rs 102.12 and Rs 95.20 per liter respectively. Whereas in Kolkata the price of petrol is seen at Rs 113.51 and the price of diesel is seen at Rs 99.02. Whereas in Mumbai the prices of petrol and diesel are seen at Rs 111.21 and Rs 97.83 per liter respectively. Whereas in Chennai the price of petrol is seen at Rs 107.77 and in Chennai the price of diesel is seen at Rs 99.55 per liter.
How expensive did petrol and diesel prices become in May?
There has been an increase of about 8 percent in the prices of petrol and diesel in the second half of May. If we look at the data, on May 15, there was an increase of Rs 3 and Rs 3.29 per liter in the prices of petrol and diesel respectively. After that, on May 19, an increase of 90 paise per liter was seen in the price of petrol and diesel. On May 23, an increase of 87 paise per liter was seen in the price of petrol and 91 paise per liter of diesel. After that, finally on May 25, petrol became costlier by Rs 2.61 and diesel by Rs 2.71.
