The 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) has announced a three-day visit to Chandigarh in September as part of its nationwide consultation exercise with central government employees, pensioners and other stakeholders. During the visit, the commission will hold discussions with employee unions, representative bodies and institutions to gather feedback before finalising its recommendations. The Chandigarh consultations follow the commission’s previously announced meetings in Delhi, Chennai and Puducherry, which are scheduled for August and September as it continues outreach across states and Union Territories.
According to a notification issued by the commission, the will remain in Chandigarh from September 16 to September 18, 2026.
Stakeholders from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Chandigarh can request an appointment to interact with the commission during the visit.
The notice states, “Interested stakeholders, including central government / UT organisations and institutions, as well as associations/unions/individuals/pensioners of the central government from the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and the UT of Chandigarh, desirous of interacting with the commission may submit their request for an appointment.”
Applications for meetings must be submitted on or before August 25, 2026 through the commission’s designated online portal.
The notification further added, “The request may be submitted along with the Unique Memo ID generated after submission of the memorandum. The venue and detailed schedule of interactions will be intimated subsequently.”
August And September Meeting Schedule Announced
The commission has already completed several consultation rounds in April, May, June and July and has lined up more interactions over the coming weeks.
The upcoming schedule includes:
- Delhi — August 7 and August 10, 2026: Meetings with associations, federations and unions representing central government and Union Territory employees registered or located in Delhi. Stakeholders who have already submitted memorandums but have not yet interacted with the commission were asked to seek appointments by July 31.
- Chennai — September 7-8, 2026: Representatives from Tamil Nadu can meet the commission after submitting appointment requests by August 18.
- Puducherry — September 9, 2026: Consultations will be held exclusively for stakeholders from the Union Territory of Puducherry. Appointment requests are to be submitted by August 18.
- Chandigarh — September 16-18, 2026: Stakeholders from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh can apply for appointments until August 25.
Consultation Process Continues Ahead of Recommendations
The commission has already concluded the submission of public suggestions, with the deadline ending on June 15. It is also accepting online data from various stakeholders until July 31.
The consultation exercise covers inputs from labour organisations, ministries, pension bodies, employee associations, central government institutions and other representative groups. These submissions will help the commission evaluate key issues such as salary structures, allowances, pension calculations and other service-related benefits for central government employees and retirees.
Meanwhile, the 8th CPC has also invited applications for consultant positions on a contractual basis. The recruitment drive is open until August 31 and covers 20 full-time and part-time consultant posts across different experience levels. The appointments will be valid for one year or until the commission completes its tenure, whichever is earlier.
