Bowlers gave a great start
The decision to bowl first after winning the toss proved to be absolutely right for RCB captain Rajat Patidar. The team’s bowlers maintained pressure on the Gujarat Titans batsmen from the very beginning.
The first major blow came when fast bowler Josh Hazlewood sent Gujarat captain Shubman Gill to the pavilion for just 10 runs. Shortly after this, Sai Sudarshan also got out after scoring 12 runs. The responsibility of handling Gujarat’s innings was on Jos Buttler, but Krunal Pandya made him walk with his clever bowling. Butler’s wicket proved to be one of the turning points of the match.
Washington Sundar showed fight
Washington Sundar held one end amidst continuous fall of wickets. He played an important inning of 50 not out in 37 balls and took Gujarat to a respectable score. However, he did not get sufficient support from the other end. As a result, Gujarat Titans could score only 155 runs after losing 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Young fast bowler Rasikh Salam was the most successful from RCB. He took three important wickets for 27 runs in four overs. Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took two wickets each, while Krunal Pandya also made a breakthrough.
Virat Kohli again showed why he is called a big player
While chasing the target of 156 runs, RCB needed a fast start and the team’s batsmen did this brilliantly. Venkatesh Iyer kept the run pace fast by scoring 32 runs in 16 balls. Although Devdutt Padikkal was out early, it did not break the momentum of RCB.
Gujarat tried to make a comeback in the middle order. Rashid Khan made the match exciting by dismissing Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya in the same over. But on the other hand, Virat Kohli appeared to be in complete control. He batted according to the situation and also hit big shots when needed.

In a stressful match like the final, Virat Kohli displayed great experience and class. He scored unbeaten 75 runs in just 42 balls.
His innings included 9 fours and 3 brilliant sixes. Virat batted by staying at the crease from beginning to end and took the team to the threshold of victory. Tim David also supported Kohli well by playing a useful inning of 24 runs in 17 balls. Eventually RCB achieved the target and the Ahmedabad ground erupted in Bengaluru’s celebrations.

RCB’s achievement recorded in history
This win is not just another IPL trophy. With this, RCB became the third team in IPL history to successfully defend its title. Earlier, Chennai Super Kings had won two consecutive titles in 2010 and 2011, while Mumbai Indians achieved this feat in 2019 and 2020. Now Royal Challengers Bangalore has also become a part of this prestigious list.
