SC to hear NEET PG transperancy plea on exam evaluation process likely today

New Delhi: The Supreme Court is likely to hear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025 plea raising concerns over the transparency of the exam today, September 19. The petition made by the candidates is regarding the release of the answer key and the evaluation process. Earlier, the apex court postponed the hearing by two weeks.

The petition filed by NEET PG candidates and United Doctors Front (UDF) against the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will be heard by a bench including Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice KV Viswanathan.

Aspirants asked full disclosure of the questions

Earlier, the exam conducting authority released the NEET PG answer key as per the apex court’s directive. However, candidates expressed concern and disappointment in the evaluation and asked for full disclosure of the questions. Aspirants also retaliated, stating that the NEET PG answer key without questions, and only question IDs, defies the purpose.

SC also questions the candidates whether the concern was because of scoring less marks in the NEET PG entrance examination. In response, aspirants stated that the concern is not about scoring less marks but the lack of transparency in the exam evaluation process. The candidates stated that it is ‘impossible’ to verify answers or check discrepancies with just question IDs. Moreover, NBE denied publishing the questions, pointing misuse of exam content.

NEET PG counselling dates

Amid this ongoing situation, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is yet to announce the NEET PG counselling dates for 50 per cent Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Science (MS) and PG diploma seats.

There will be a total of four rounds of NEET PG counselling 2025- round 1, round 2, round 3 and stray vacancy round. For each of the rounds, the seat cancellation and exit policies are different.
