New policy in Haryana: Government permission will have to be taken for second child after daughter

Keep these things in mind before getting IVF

The Haryana government has implemented a new rule to maintain sex ratio. Such couples who are already parents of a daughter and now want to do another child with IVF, then they will have to get permission from the government. The couple will have to give the reason for IVF and will have to give information when they want to do it. Without government permission, the parents of a girl will not be able to get IVF. This rule has been issued by the Health Department of Haryana. This decision has been taken so that the tendency of gender selection through the IVF process can be banned.

Under the new rule, now the couple will now have to apply to the District Appropriate Authority. In this, the first child’s birth certificate will have to be submitted. Medical information of previous pregnancy and miscarriage will have to be given. The reason for IVF has to be given. If a couple does this without permission, action will be taken. A major reason for making this rule is also believed to be the falling sex ratio in Haryana.

Sex ratio falling in Haryana (sex ratio)

In Haryana, the sex ratio of birth time has fallen in 2024 to 910 girls, which is a concern for the state. Whereas in 2018 and 2019, this figure reached 914 and 923 respectively. The gender selection done during the IVF is being considered a major reason behind this decline. It is believed that information about the gender of the child in some IVF center is shared with the parents. This is because the fetus is prepared in the lab in IVF. With which the penis can be identified. Doing this is against the rule.

It is feared that in the last few years, with the help of IVF technology, people are already finding the sex of the child. Due to this, the number of girls is decreasing. Despite campaigns like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, there is no improvement in sex ratio. In view of this, this new rule has been made. The new guideline is expected to reopen the sex ratio in the state and illegal efforts such as fetal sex selection will be curbed.

IVF clinics will have to follow these rules

It will be mandatory to report all treatments and fetal selection to the Health Department

Under any circumstances, only male embryo will not be implanted
