Thiruvananthapuram: Hundreds of DYFI and AIYF activists marched towards the Kerala university headquarters in the capital city raising slogans against Governor Rajendra Arlekar and Vice Chancellor Mohanan Kunnummal. Activists alleged that the governor and the vice chancellor are acting at the behest of the RSS and Sangh Parivar and trying to push the RSS agenda in the universities across Kerala.
Police stopped the protesters at the university gates and are currently trying to disperse them using water canons and by using lathi-charge. However, the youth wing members of the CPM and the CPI have continue to protest at the gates of the university.
Registrar enters office disregarding VC’s orders
Disregarding Vice-Chancellor Mohan Kumar Kunnummal’s instruction, security personnel let Registrar KS Anil Kumar enter his office at the University.
Amid escalating conflict at the University, the VC had instructed security personnel that Anil Kumar has been suspended and that no one should be allowed to enter the Registrar’s office without authorization. But the security personnel refused to comply with the order.
